Haul: MAC, Nars, Bobbi Brown

Hello everyone, hope you are all having a good weekend. I'm having a lazy Sunday and thought I should spare some time to do a little blog post :)

I went shopping in Cardiff on Friday and picked up a little more make-up than I had originally planned.. oohh dear. But here is my haul anyway...

MAC:
4 pan palette
Retrospeck e/s (top left)
Satin Taupe e/s (top right)
Ricepaper e/s (bottom left)

This is all I had originally planned to get. I needed a 4 pan palette for general travel needs, and I had written down 3 eyeshadows from my wishlist.

As I was at MAC I got distracted and decided to pick up my first paint pot, in the shade 'Painterly'. It's a pretty, flesh toned neutral - ideal for eyeshadow bases or just on it's own for a more natural look.

I then scooted to John Lewis, and whilst I wandered around waiting for the Bobbi Brown MUA to match me up, I got sidetracked at the Nars counter. I ended up picking up their Laguna bronzer, which I have been tempted to buy for a while.

Then finally, at Bobbi Brown I made two purchases.

Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Long Lasting Foundation SPF15 in 'Sand'.
I originally didn't plan to get this, but the MUA applied it to me underneath the concealer I wanted to buy and I fell in love with it instantly. It has the same coverage as MAC's Studio Fix Fluid, but it feels so much lighter on the skin. Expect a full review on this in the future!

And lastly, what I had intended to get at Bobbi Brown - their Creamy Concealer. I was matched as 'Cool Sand'. I love this concealer already - I specifically bought it because I was sick of MAC Studio Fix Concealer making my skin look dry. This does the opposite!

So there is my little (or not-so-little) haul!

Origins Out of Trouble Face Mask Review

Hello everyone! Hope you are all doing okay.

Recently I've had a bad spot outbreak on my chin which is very unusual for me - I'm normally one of those lucky people with clear skin! I asked on Twitter for some advice on a face mask, and a few people recommended Origins Out of Trouble. I read up on it, like what I heard and promptly ordered it. I've used it 3 times now and was impressed so I thought I would do a little review :)

It contains the absorbent Zinc Oxide and Sulphur, Camphor which is calming, and Salicylic Acid which is renown for treating spots.

Price: £17 for 100ml

How to use it: apply an even layer over clean skin, leave for 10 minutes, remove with a damp washcloth.

Why I like it: I love that it tingles! When something tingles it makes me think it's actually working. The mask is comfortable on the skin, it doesn't dry tight and it only has to be left on for 10 minutes. Most importantly, I have noticed improvements in the condition of my spots. My skin feels instantly refreshed and incredibly clean after using this. I really believe that has helped my skin! It also doesn't dry your skin out afterwards, which is rare for a spot-busting product. Whilst I can't guarantee this will get banish your spots, I believe it will help.

Why I don't like it: It's quite pricey - £17 and you only get 100ml worth of product. Despite being expensive, I would repurchase this because I feel like it works.

You can buy the face mask here.

Louboutin Advice Wanted...

Hi everyone, hope you have all had a good weekend. I just wanted to ask you all for some advice as I am in a bit of a pickle!

I have one pair of Louboutins which I've had for 2 years now, and as you can see from the photo below, the soles are pretty wrecked. I also want to point out that these have only been worn 3 times - atrocious in my opinion. I probably won't be buying another pair of Louboutins in a hurry because although they are GORGEOUS, the condition they got in after 3 wears is sickeningly unacceptable. The sole is made out of red leather, so wear and tear is expected. But I did not expect this kind of wear and tear so soon when I have paid over £400 for them. I've had Topshop heels that cost just £65 which saw me through a whole year of nights out without any repairs being done! How's that for a comparison?!

Close up of one of the soles. Makes me sad :(

As you can see from the photo below, they look fine to still be worn - the wear and tear is concealed as it is on the part of the sole you walk on.

What I want is some advice on whether I should get the soles professionally repaired at Christian Louboutin? Or should I get red rubber soles attached to the sole that hits the ground by a (reputable! of course!) cobbler?

Getting the red leather redone at Louboutin would look a lot better and my mind would be at ease knowing that they would repair my babies back to their pristine condition. However, the same wear and tear is bound to happen again quickly after - so is it a waste of money?

The red rubber soles will last a long time and I can trot around in my Louboutins untill my hears content. BUT it will ruin the look of them from the underneath - only I will know, of course. But it still matters to me.

What the red rubber sole will look like (not cut to size) ^ above.

Below: me showing them off :)

So what do you guys think I should do? I need your help!

Update.. and a little Lush Review!

Hi everyone, sorry I've barely been posting recently! I am hiding under a mountain of revision, but luckily that will all be over on Thursday afternoon and normal blogging may resume!

I went home to my parents for a couple of days last week, and every time I go home I love to indulge in a couple of Lush baths! A Lush product that really stood out for me was their new 'Keep It Fluffy' bath ballistic. I had been sent this weeks ago in a big package from Lush, not as a promotional activity but because I had previously worked for Lush and they like their employees (and sometimes past employees!) to try out their new stuff first hand.

'Keep It Fluffy' is a new bath ballistic, and the scent comes from Lush's former sister company, B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful. It is a gorgeous scent, and one that lingers around for the rest of the night and way in to the next day. I love those kind of bath products!
The scent is a wonderful combination of vanilla, jasmine and ylang ylang which makes it seem both soothing and uplifting. Once I had got out of the bath my skin felt velvety smooth, which is always a major plus for me!
A 90g ballistic costs £2.25.

Another thing I want to mention is 'The Carrie Diaries' by Candace Bushnell. It's about Carrie's life before her Sex and The City days. This book has been an easy, enjoyable read and I recommend it to every SATC fan out there!

Blog soon,

April Favourites

Hello everyone. Firstly just want to say thanks to the lovely ladies who helped me out and entered my giveaway - I have written my feature now and all your quotes were very helpful!

My favourites from last month are nearly all new products that have wowed me:)

1. Bare Minerals Mineral Veil - I loooove this stuff for setting my foundation! I used MAC's Mineral Skin Finish Natural for about a year, but recently found it was making my make-up feel a bit cakey. My make-up feels much more light now I'm using the mineral veil. It also keeps the shiny forehead at bay all day!

2. Chi Silk Infusion - I know I'm late on the bandwagon with this, but oh my gosh I can't believe I didn't own it sooner! I apply it to wet hair after every wash and it makes my hair so soft. Whether I leave it to air-dry or whether I use a hairdryer, my hair is much less frizzy and more sleek. This means it cuts hair straightening time in half - sometimes I don't even need to use them! Can't recommend this enough, especially if your hair is out of control without straighteners.

3. OPI You're Such A Kabuki Queen - this is the perfect summer nail polish! It's a coral pink that's bright but not too bright. I have been rocking it on my toes all month - LOVE!

4. Chanel 'Exceptionnel de Chanel' Volume and Length mascara - I received this as a free sample in a goody bag from Chanel and it totally wowed me from the first time I used it. The brush is very unique - it has different bristles all the way round. What you do is twirl the brush whilst you pull it up through your lashes - gives amazing length! It's also easily buildable. I am going to buy the full sized version of this for sure!

5. MAC Mineral Skin Finish in Triple Fusion - this was limited edition in a collection last year (can't remember which one sorry!) and I used it for a bit and then it retired to my make-up stash. Recently I've dug it out and have been using it as a blush/highlighter. I love to swirl my blush brush around the whole thing for a cheek colour, and use the gold for a highlighter. So pretty!

So that is my top 5 picks of the month :)
